We have granted a total of £3,750 to five Gloucestershire based charities.  As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, these donations were in place of the hugely successful Lansdown Giving event which took place last year and was intended to be a yearly event.

Employees here at Lansdown each voted for a local charity to receive the donation and the five charities with the most votes each received a donation of £750. The five charities were:

Darren Bee, General Manager and head of our Block of Flats Insurance team said “We are delighted in be in a position again to give something back to the local community. We have been operating in Cheltenham for over 50 years and supporting hard working local charities in some capacity, especially in the current climate, is even more necessary. There are many local volunteers and charities who give up so much time of their time to help others and I truly hope our donation will help.”

The James Hopkins Trust was the recipient of the largest grant of £10,000 at last year’s Lansdown Giving event. Ria Heap, Community, Events & Volunteer Manager at the Trust had this to say about receiving further support from us:

“James Hopkins Trust is extremely grateful to Lansdown Insurance Brokers for generously awarding us £750.00.  This could not have come at a better time for the charity as over the past few months we have seen our fundraising income decline dramatically and our now reinstated respite provision costing double what it cost pre COVID-19 as we are having to pay for extra staff to be available to support infection prevention control measures and the additional PPE needed to keep the staff and children COVID-19 safe.

Last year we were very fortunate to receive the Lansdown Giving Grant of a £10,000 – Thank you Lansdown for your on-going support which helped us to provide nursing respite care to the life limited and life threatened children in Gloucestershire.”

Over the last three years, we have donated an astounding £41,000 to Gloucestershire based charities, we’re hoping to be able to host another Lansdown Giving event in 2021.

"Thank you again for all your help with our car crash. You were absolutely brilliant on the phone, after we had been dumped by the police at that obscure petrol station. It would have been a lot more difficult if you had not found us a hotel room near where our car had been taken. We are very grateful for all your efforts to achieve that."
